[Celadon City's sullen back-streets are widely known for their filth, both in a literal sense and the types of people the unseen underside of any urban city sucks into itself. The bigger and shinier a city, the grimier and darker things become behind the scenes.
Celadon's alley-ways are dirty, dangerous, and certainly no place for a child. And yet they're where one five-year-old girl had to sleep last night. This place is worlds away from the preened and posh Saffron City suburbs with pristine gardens and smart rows of houses that Clarissa calls home — it's filthy and it's scary, and it's the most she can do to huddle curled-up in the doorway of a boarded-up building and wait for her parents to find her..and keep waiting, until she falls asleep there on the cold concrete steps.]
